The first Double Rink Open played on Sunday 20th February. Seven 8 man teams made the trip to Wey Valley Indoor Bowling Club to play for the £280 prize fund.
With 7 teams entered it was played as one big league with each team playing 6 games. It was a cracking days bowling with some fantastic bowls being played.
The venue deserves special mention as its the only venue i have seen that is devoted to short mat bowls with 10 mats down all the time for members of Surrey County to come and use.
Before the competition started there were 4 teams that stood out due to the amount of current and former England Internationals in their ranks.
As the competition was open teams could be made up from any mix of players although 5 team were made up completly from players from 1 county. The 7 teams were Devon, Dorset, Essex, Essex/Northants, Surrey, Hampshire & West Mids
