Belfast Open & World Masters 2020 date confirmed
We are delighted to confirm the dates for the Belfast Open & World Masters for the 2019/20 season.
Players’ Player of the Season 2018/19
What a season we’ve had, and as the dust settles, it’s that time of year where you get to select your SMPT Players’ Player of the Season. We take a look at the players who have stood out above the rest. With one Belgian, four Englishmen, three Irish players, a Swede and a Welshman to pick from, who will get your vote and become the 2018/19 PPOTS?
New Entrants Promotion 2018-19: winner announced
Every season we welcome a significant number of new players to events on the Short Mat Players Tour.
To thank those players for entering their first event and to show our appreciation to those who have recommended us, every year we run a special promotion where one of these people wins a new set of Taylor bowls.
Phil Mills to step down
We are sad to announce that Phil Mills, one of the directors of the Short Mat Players Tour, has taken the decision to step down from his role with the SMPT. We fully support Phil’s decision and are delighted that he will continue to support our progression.
UK Open 2019 – Entry Update
We will be putting the remaining 20 spots live on our website on Monday 29th April at 6pm (UK time).
Alan Paul wins the 2019 World Masters!
Alan Paul claims his 4th SMPT title after beating Ed Sawbridge 11-6 in the final.
William Boggs takes the Bronze medal after beating Andrew Jones. Martin Harries wins the Plate with a 10-6 victory over Shane Hand and Arwel Morgan claims the Shield with a 9-2 win over David McCullough.
Ed Sawbridge moves to World #1 and also claims the Order of Merit title after a fantastic season.
Robbie Foster & Adam Rankin claim the 2019 Belfast Open Pairs title!
Robbie Foster & Adam Rankin beat DJ Wilson & Andrew Leckey in the final of the Belfast Open.
Mark Beattie & Gary Moore take the Plate after beating Geraint Morgan & Arwel Morgan.
World Masters 2019 – Show Mat Schedule
The SMPT Show Mat enables us to showcase some of the best action from our events.
The Show Mat line-up at this year’s record breaking World Masters does not disappoint! It features no less than 11 different SMPT singles winners, including defending champion Gary McNabb, who between them have amassed 20 SMPT singles titles.
