Rule Changes for 2024-25
The SMPT have been reviewing the competition rules ahead of the 2024/25 season. Following discussions between the directors, player feedback and awareness of continued growth of our streaming coverage and presence, we have a made a couple of amendments which will come in to effect from the World Cup in August 2024.

Alex Kley wins the Players’ Player of the Season
We are delighted to announce your 2022/23 Players’ Player of the Season is England’s Alex Kley!
Polling a huge 27.50% of the total votes, the majorities, front runner, indeed takes home the title.
A fantastic 18 months, both on the Tour, and in other National & International events, Alex has had some great success.
Our huge congratulations to him, and to all the players nominated this season.
PPOTS 2023: Gary McNabb (7/7)
Our final 2022/23 ppots nominee is also our current player’s player, Gary Mcnabb. A retention of his British Open title, his 5th, capped another very impressive season.

PPOTS 2023: Ian Hobson (6/7)
Our penultimate nominee is Mr consistent, Ian Hobson. Making the later stages in all 3 singles events, shows his class.

PPOTS 2023: Peter Roberts (5/7)
Our fifth of seven nominees is England’s Peter Roberts. A maiden singles title and climbing to 2nd in the World rankings was topped by winning the Order of Merit trophy.

Our 4th nominee this year is World No1 Mark Beattie. A third World Cup winners medal and yet another singles event win. Check out his story here.

Third on this year’s list for PPOTS is the rising star of Short Mat Bowls, England’s Alex Kley. His World Masters victory in Belfast, capped off an amazing 18 months. You can view his SMPT season highlights here.
